2. Ricky White becomes Big Ten freshman of the year favorite

After his eight-catch, 196-yard, one-touchdown performance against Michigan, it’s fairly clear that Ricky White is a legitimate talent. He came to Michigan State as a top prospect out of SEC country as he led Marietta (Ga.) High to a state title and put his name on the map.

White had a quiet opener against Rutgers, catching one pass for five yards, but with Tre Mosley banged up a bit, he got the start against the Wolverines and broke out.

The freshman receiver made a name for himself and he will undoubtedly get some more focus from defenses, but with guys like Jalen Nailor, Jayden Reed and Mosley in the receiving corps already, he’s still going to get plenty of one-on-ones that he’s going to win and put up some big numbers again. I see two more 100-yard games in the month of November.

With that, White will be on everyone’s radars and take the lead in the freshman of the year race in the Big Ten.

I’m going to guess he’ll average somewhere around 80 yards receiving per game and pick up a few more touchdowns to sit at over 500 yards and four touchdowns through six games.
