Michigan State Football: Could Andrel Anthony be considering a flip?
Could one of Michigan State football’s top targets from the 2021 class Andrel Anthony be considering flipping his commitment from Michigan?
Just days after beating Michigan, Mel Tucker and Michigan State have been looking like the hottest program in the state in the recruiting landscape.
On Monday, multiple recruiting experts Crystal Ball’d Rayshaun Benny to Michigan State. This comes as a surprise given the fact that Benny had been considered a Michigan lock for months and he was getting set to make his decision on Nov. 9. But seeing the young Spartans take down the Wolverines had to help matters.
Benny is not trending toward the Spartans, but he’s not the only top prospect from the state to be reconsidering a move to Michigan State.
This kid, however, wouldn’t have to move too far.
Andrel Anthony spurned Michigan State for Michigan a couple of months ago and fans were left in shock because the Wolverines stole the East Lansing-native right from the Spartans’ own backyard. He was looking green for a while because of the work Tucker put in, but Michigan made a last-minute push and landed him.
The three-star receiver’s social media was interesting over the weekend and on Monday.
The “hmm” tweet with the eyeballs emoji was interesting timing given the very public momentum Michigan State built for Benny. He also liked a handful of Michigan State-related tweets over the weekend, including one about Tucker not being afraid to play freshmen.
Seeing freshman wide out Ricky White go off for 196 yards and a touchdown on eight catches in a rivalry game had to be attractive for Anthony, but will it be enough to flip him?
There’s chatter and momentum regarding this and with teammate Ethan Boyd committed to MSU already and in his ear, this recruitment isn’t over. I wouldn’t be shocked if he made the flip and committed to Michigan State especially with the uncertainty surrounding Jim Harbaugh’s job security.
We could be seeing multiple major recruiting victories for the Spartans over Michigan in the coming weeks.
