Michigan State football is picking up some serious steam in the recruiting ranks as evidenced by predictions for four-star lineman Rayshaun Benny.
A coup could be taking place within the next week. Actually, a week from Monday.
Michigan looked like a lock to land Oak Park, Mich., four-star lineman Rayshaun Benny and the Wolverines had 100 percent of the FutureCasts (Rivals) and Crystal Balls (247Sports) for him.
After an upset win by Michigan State on Saturday, the tides seem to be shifting in favor of the Spartans with some in-state recruiting. Mel Tucker is using that mojo from the win to win some recruiting battles and it looks like Benny is buying in.
Rivals recruiting expert Justin Thind, along with Corey Robinson, both flipped their FutureCasts from Michigan to Michigan State on Monday afternoon.
BREAKING: I just flipped my FutureCast prediction for Rayshaun Benny to Michigan State.

On October 13th, I moved my Michigan prediction for Benny to "Unlikely," contrary to popular belief.
Today, we feel MSU has taken a lead, so I've completed the flip along w/ @RivalsRobinson. pic.twitter.com/GRgTb41xrf
As if that wasn’t enough, 247Sports‘ Midwest recruiting expert Allen Trieu and Steve Wiltfong both flipped their Crystal Balls, along with Michigan insider Sam Webb.
Those are five prominent recruiting experts, one from Michigan, making the prediction flip from the Wolverines to the Spartans. Where there’s smoke, there has to be fire. And the fire is in Oak Park with Benny getting set to make his announcement on Nov. 9.
If Tucker and Co. can pull this one off and end up holding onto him by National Signing Day, that’d go a long way for not only the 2021 class but 2022 as well.
On top of that, there may be a flip in the near future.
I have put in a futurecast for Rayshaun Benny to Michigan State. I have spoken with Benny and then people very familiar with the recruitment and like the Spartans

I also expect the Spartans to get another 21 prospect who is currently committed to another school in the Big Ten pic.twitter.com/gedhDM6PYr
Robinson talks about flipping a Big Ten commit in the 2021 class and that could mean Andrel Anthony who hinted at some recruiting developments on Twitter Monday but don’t overlook someone like Jayden Reed of Penn State who I’ve always felt might be a flip candidate.
We knew Tucker could recruit, but this effectiveness is a pleasant surprise this early.
