An upset win for Michigan State football over No. 13 Michigan in Week 9 didn’t come without some serious hot takes, including our own.

It’s Monday after a Michigan State win over Michigan and you know what that means? Michigan fans are crawling out from bunkers that they’ve been hiding in all weekend to go back to work and Jim Harbaugh is making excuses as to why he lost to a rival yet again.

OK, enough about that program and let’s get into it about Michigan State.

The Spartans showed up on Saturday, proved everyone wrong and made the Rutgers loss in the opener look like a fluke. Maybe the Spartans were too hyped up and that led to the seven-turnover performance against the conference’s usual bottom-dweller or maybe Rutgers is just that much better under Greg Schiano. Whatever the case, Mel Tucker got things back on track.

Tucker actually becomes the second Michigan State coach to ever beat Michigan in his first attempt, joining the legendary Nick Saban. Not too shabby.

With the win, Michigan State actually received votes in the AP and Coaches polls for the first time in the Tucker era and a win over Iowa this weekend might even get them even closer to being ranked. Man, a win over Rutgers would have this program in a really good place.

Let’s get to some hot takes from the Michigan win.
