1. Julian Barnett

What gives here?

Mel Tucker was asked in his weekly press conference on Tuesday why there wasn’t more of Julian Barnett on the field outside of special teams and he said that he’s incredibly talented and they’re trying to develop him so he can play a significant role.

But a year ago, he was utilized as much as possible even when the defensive backfield was set. So why not just try to get him on the field in some capacity if he’s arguably the most talented dude on the roster? It makes no sense to not play him on either side of the ball and limit him to special teams. That seems like a a waste.

Barnett should be out there competing for snaps at cornerback or at least seeing the field in some capacity in the receiving corps but instead he’s chasing down returners on kickoffs.

It’s time the coaching staff turns Barnett loose and let him show why he was one of the top prospects in the 2019 class and in the entire Mark Dantonio tenure.
