1. MSU finishes with a winning record

OK, this is the boldest one yet. How confident am I that this is actually going to happen? I’d put my confidence level at a solid 17.3 percent, but I do believe that there’s a chance Michigan State finishes the regular season before the crossover with a 4-4 record.

If you look at the schedule, there are four very winnable games. Rutgers, Indiana, Maryland and Northwestern. Year in and year out, those would be four you could mark down as sure wins, but since we are entering into a new, unknown era, it’s not that simple. Michigan State has too many question marks to call those sure wins, but for the sake of this bold prediction, they are.

So four wins right there, the potential to upset one of the other four teams on the schedule and the potential to beat a lesser Big Ten West foe in the season finale crossover.

Michigan State is going to finish with a winning record this season and shock just about everyone. Mel Tucker will deserve any sort of praise coming his way — and more.

Momentum will be swinging in the right direction for 2021.
