There was a point in time that Chris Jackson looked like he might garner more interest from big-time programs, but he stuck with Michigan State throughout the process and it ended up working out for both sides. His parents are Michigan State graduates and even though he lived in Georgia, he always wanted to attend the school.

Back when he was recruited, it was Harlon Barnett that was putting in a lot of work to get him to East Lansing with his defensive backs but he never got to see the process through as he left for Florida State with Willie Taggart before Jackson even got to campus.

Now Barnett is back and has called Jackson one of the biggest surprises of the fall so far, leading up to the start of the 2020 season. That type of praise really stands out.

There are some vacancies at cornerback with Josh Butler and Josiah Scott gone so that means a redshirt sophomore like Jackson can rise up and grab hold of the position. I’ve always been high on him and Barnett’s recent praise makes it seem like we will see plenty of the sophomore cornerback this season.

Do we have the next NFL prospect at corner in the making in Jackson? I believe so.
