2. Easy Week 1 matchup vs. Rutgers

I don’t want to necessarily call this matchup easy. Considering the changes in this offseason and the position that Mark Dantonio left this squad, a loss against Rutgers doesn’t seem too far fetched. That being said, I think MSU should handle this win pretty easily, especially considering the talent gap between these two teams.

Rutgers Week 1 is the best possible game that Mel Tucker could have started his coaching career with. If Tucker and his staff can’t take care of the Scarlet Knights, there should be huge worries in East Lansing. That being said, I’m not here to worry anybody.

This is as close to a guaranteed win that a 7-6 team with a brand new head coach can hope for. Rutgers is in the gutter and has a brand new head coach, so they’re as vulnerable as a Big Ten team has been for a long time. We’ll get a look at the best of our new offense and the best of our new defense and have an early ego boost to kick off the season.
