2. Theo Day wins the starting job

All eyes are on the quarterback position in East Lansing. Few programs are still hoping to find their go-to guy under center and Michigan State is one of them and potentially facing the most important battle for the starting job in the Power Five right now.

No, Michigan State won’t be a title contender — at least not expected to be one — but the Spartans are always competitive with the right guy under center.

Rocky Lombardi might be the presumed starter to begin the season because he has the most experience and he’s a leader and has started a few games before. He’s a veteran, but he’s not the guy who I see winning the job. I love Rocky. He’s a great kid with the perfect mindset but I just see Theo Day with the most upside.

By the start of the season, I see Day winning the starting job.

Michigan State has the most potential if Day wins that starting job because of his size, strong arm and athleticism and we’re going to see that early on.
