3. Defensive line depth

This is a huge one if you’re a Michigan State fan. Seeing what left after the 2019 season, the defensive line for 2020 is going to be a massive concern.

Add in the facts that Jacub Panasiuk nearly opted out of the 2020 season for good and Adam Berghorst moved to the offensive side of the ball and you have a potential recipe for disaster.

Concerns about the depth on the defensive line are legitimate. Michigan State is losing Mike Panasiuk, Raequan Williams and Kenny Willekes from a talented line and all have been battling it out to make NFL rosters this offseason. Willekes was the only one drafted, but the other two are good enough to play on Sundays as well.

That’s three key starters with All-Big Ten resumes gone.

How do you replace that? You really can’t, but guys like Naquan Jones and the younger Panasiuk brother will be the leaders of the group. Both can become top performers and make the departures sting just a little less. But the depth took a massive hit.

There’s talent up front, but barely enough to fill out a two-deep.
