3. Health of Josh Langford

Just like last offseason, there’s concerns about the health of Josh Langford. He was supposed to be ready by the start of the season and was “way ahead of schedule” but when it drew closer, Tom Izzo stated that he had a setback and would miss some time. Shortly into the year, the talented wing was ruled out for the season.

With his decision to return for a fifth year, Langford’s health is going to be key, especially with the departures of Cassius Winston and Kyle Ahrens from the backcourt. The depth there took a hit and the leadership, too.

While expected Langford to get back to his junior year form when he was averaging 15 points and 3.6 rebounds per game right away is silly, he could be a valuable piece to a title puzzle. If he even gets back to his sophomore form, he’ll be looked at as an All-Big Ten candidate.

If Langford isn’t healthy enough to contribute the amount Michigan State needs him to, the Spartans could be in some trouble. He’s a bigger piece to the puzzle than people think.
