1. Michigan Wolverines

From the point of Mel Tucker’s hiring to today, things have changed quite a between between these rivals. No, Michigan State isn’t getting any better, but among a cluster of opt-outs for the Wolverines, the Spartans’ chances have improved by a large margin.

Have said all of this, this game should still be a pretty easy victory for the Wolverines, but we’ll learn a lot from how Michigan State performs against high-level talent. In Week 2, we’ll be studying a few parts of Mel Tucker’s new team. Who will establish themselves as QB1? Was Elijah Collins 2019 season a fluke? How will the defense hold up without Mark Dantonio?

As I said, this game should not be a victory for Michigan State, but the competitiveness of the squad is what will be measured in Ann Arbor. Despite losing quite a few players to the NFL, this team will retain some high-level talent. If the Spartans can, at the very least, stay in the game for a while, it’ll be an extremely good sign for the future of this team.
