Michigan State Football: Predicting final stat leaders for upcoming 2020 season
Interceptions
Interception leader: Xavier Henderson
Michigan State averaged almost an interception per game last season and Josiah Scott led the way with three, including the only pick that Justin Fields tossed all year. He’s gone as the Jacksonville Jaguars scooped him up in the NFL draft and that leaves Xavier Henderson as the returning interceptions leader with two.
The safety had quite the sophomore year with the Spartans, recording 83 tackles, five pass deflections and two interceptions as he looked like a breakout star.
That will continue in 2020.
Henderson is going to lead the team in interceptions as he’ll be the leader of the secondary and Harlon Barnett will do a fantastic job with him. He’s only going to get better in year three with better coaching.
While Henderson will lead the team in interceptions with three, don’t overlook Kalon Gervin and Julian Barnett who I feel will each add a couple along with Shakur Brown who always seems to be in the right place at the right time for turnovers.
