Call me crazy. No seriously, I dare you. If you think this pick is out of left field, you didn’t watch Malik Hall play in limited action last year and continue to turn heads and make impressive players. He didn’t look like a freshman and I believe he’s in for a monster sophomore leap.

If there’s going to be one guy who stands out as a fan favorite this season outside of maybe Rocket Watts, Joey Hauser, Josh Langford and Aaron Henry, I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s Hall.

The freshman from Illinois stands 6-7 and weighs about 215 pounds so he has the body to bang around in the post in the Big Ten and he can also step out and hit the occasion three or mid-range jumper. He needs to work on fouling because he was known to get into some trouble last season, grabbing after missing an assignment or not moving his feet enough.

Hall finished the year averaging 4.6 points and 3.7 rebounds, shooting 54 percent from the floor and 33 percent from deep. He’s going to improve those first two numbers (maybe even double them) and get his 3-point shooting close to 40 percent.

We are about to see this kid take off and become a star in East Lansing and you can say you heard it here first.
