1. Desperate need for a point guard

Michigan State has one major need that stands out above the rest heading into 2020-21 and that’s point guard depth. Cassius Winston is gone, Rocket Watts (not exactly a natural point guard) and Foster Loyer will play the role of backup with true freshman AJ Hoggard.

This isn’t exactly the ideal scenario, but many feel that Rocket has a chance to become an All-Big Ten first-teamer. But you always have to be ready in the event that he gets injured and misses some time like he did in 2019-20.

While a commitment from Jaden Akins wouldn’t help during the upcoming season, it’s a need for the Spartans moving forward, especially if Rocket leaves early for the NBA.

Akins knows that Michigan State probably needs him the most out of all the schools that made his final list and that has to be a huge contributing factor in his decision and it’s why I believe he’ll choose the Spartans.

When you’re needed somewhere, the coaches make it known and they sell playing time. If he wants to play a ton early on, Michigan State is the place for him.
