There just aren’t enough people like Miles Bridges in the world. Besides being one of the best athletes to ever roll through East Lansing, he’s probably the most unselfish superstar Tom Izzo ever coached.

In fact, he was dogged by Izzo constantly about not being selfish enough with the ball in his hands. He often looked for teammates before searching for his own shot and that drove the Hall of Fame head coach crazy. He was always dubbed a “humble superstar” by Izzo because he never put himself before the team which is a rare trait for elite players such as Bridges.

The perfect example of his humility and love for Michigan State was when he decided to pass up a projected NBA lottery spot for another year in East Lansing. He said, “It’s not about me, it’s about us.”

Bridges wanted to bring home another national title to Michigan State and that team in his sophomore year was one of the best in the country, going 30-5 overall and 16-2 in the Big Ten, winning the conference title outright. It looked like the Spartans were going to run through the NCAA Tournament, but an upset in round two to Syracuse was crushing.

Although Bridges never won anything of note in the NCAA Tournament (just two NCAA tourney wins), he was a fan favorite for every other reason in the books.

No one, and I mean no one, has anything bad to say about Bridges.
