4. 2010 (11-2)

If I had to describe the 2010 season in hindsight, the word I would use is “weird”. This team seemed like one of the best in the country at times, while at others they looked lost and confused. That being said, this season was one of the most fun to watch as a Michigan State football fan.

This season, in a way, put the Spartans on the map.

This was the first of five times that Mark Dantonio would hit the 11-win mark, something that is not easy when you have Michigan, Ohio State and other Big Ten foes on your schedule almost every year. This team was headlined by stars such as Kirk Cousins, Le’Veon Bell, Greg Jones and many other notable names.

The weird part about this season is that this team beat a lot of strong teams, most of these wins coming with a relatively wide margin. On the other end of things, when they lost, they lost bad.

In the only two losses of the season, MSU was out-scored 86-13; an embarrassing combined margin of defeat.
