1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

And here we are at the grand prize. Notre Dame may be the most overhyped team in college football every year but what they lack in recent titles, they make up for in brand.

The Fighting Irish have one of the biggest national brands and adding them to the Big Ten would be something fans have wanted to happen for years. Will it happen? Who knows, but it’s far from being a serious possibility. Notre Dame has dodged the conference talk for years and that’s probably not going to change anytime soon.

Every conference wants the independent Irish, though.

If there’s one league that may have a better chance than the Big Ten of adding Notre Dame at some point, it’d be the ACC. Notre Dame is already an ACC basketball school and the football schedule is flooded with programs from the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Michigan State and Michigan already have rivalries with the Irish, but could you imagine what kind of numbers a game between Notre Dame and Ohio State would do? Everyone and their mother would be tuned into that game.

Adding Notre Dame makes sense and it’d be a home run, but don’t hold your breath. The Irish are content with being conference-less.
