2. Texas Longhorns

Another team, much like Oklahoma, from the south, Texas would be a massive addition to the conference and the Big Ten would extend its reach further than it ever has before.

Adding Texas wouldn’t be easy, though. The Longhorns are a staple of the Big 12 and if the league does decide to stretch further south, it would have to put up a big battle for a team like Texas or Oklahoma.

Texas has some Big Ten ties with former Ohio State assistant Tom Herman as the head coach there and they fit one of the criteria of a “traditional blue blood” in the Big Ten (not named the Buckeyes): they value their history. Yearly battles between Michigan and Texas to fight about who’s really “back” would be epic.

Getting some Big Ten love from the biggest state in the country would be nice and it would be fun to see which rivals in the league the Longhorns would develop. Would they be regional or would it be an equally-hated program like Michigan?

Hard to argue against Texas as a target here.
