Aiding MSU’s image the way Magic Johnson has

This slide could very easily end up as a “what if” slide. Despite all the hype, there’s absolutely no guarantee that Emoni Bates ends up being a great NBA player. Or even an NBA player at all. Or even an MSU basketball player. He’s only 16 right now and if anybody here says that their life panned out the way they were expecting it to at 16, they’d be a liar.

That being said, if Emoni lives up to the hype and becomes an NBA legend, the impact that will have on this basketball program is priceless.

I’ll once again make the easy comparison to Magic Johnson. That’s not to say the two players have many similarities on the court, but that’s the type of guy he could be off of the court for the Spartans. Magic, with some help from Mateen Cleaves, took the Spartans from an average program into being considered (by some) a blue blood college basketball team.

I think if Emoni came to MSU and brought us another NCAA title, this program would be brought to legendary heights and would be officially a blue blood program.
