Entering the 2020-21 season, Michigan State basketball will have a handful of players with plenty to prove. Which Spartans have the most to prove?

Tom Izzo squeezes the most out of his players whether it’s on the court or off. The Hall of Fame head coach is never content with coasting and not improving and his players usually respond.

Some players have more to prove than others, however.

Over the years, guys with more to prove have ended up being some of the all-time greats in the Izzo era. Cassius Winston had a ton to prove after his sophomore season and he ended up winning Big Ten Player of the Year and finishing his career as one of the best players in Michigan State basketball history.

Denzel Valentine and Draymond Green were the same way going into their upperclassman seasons. Adreian Payne has to also fall under this category and every year there are guys who could take that next step toward greatness or fold under the pressure. Every year, there are Spartans with a lot to prove.

The 2020-21 season will be no different as Michigan State is losing Cassius and potentially the duo of Aaron Henry and Xavier Tillman, but even if they return, the team will be looking to prove itself.

As a squad, Michigan State is looking to prove that it’s still a contender without Cassius, but these guys will have the most work to do.
