We may be here for Michigan State football news, but a rather interesting development has happened down the road. Or not. Who knows.

Just because the pandemic has put travel plans on hold for most of the world doesn’t mean that University of Michigan whatever family paid for this sponsorship I’m not looking it up head football coach Jim Harbaugh can’t provide his customary travel experience to his players in these trying times.

In place of traveling to, like, Siberia or whatever, Harbaugh opted to have a computer science major build the team a virtual tour of Indianapolis, Ind., giving said student zero credit.

Addressing the media about the endeavor, Harbaugh said, “I wanted to give our players a once in a lifetime opportunity. A lot of them had never seen the city, and a lot of them might never see it, and I just wanted to give our players a chance to attack the day and become virtual champions”.

When asked whether or not this was a sort of motivational tool for his players in hopes of them reaching Indianapolis for real, Harbaugh said, on some kind of odd tangent, “Have you guys seen what’s going on in the world right now? We’ve got to do something about that Kony guy.”

Outside optics aside, the virtual vacation was very popular with players within the program. Junior ‘are we sure they haven’t sold the naming rights to this position yet?’ quarterback Dylan McCaffrey says, “I had a ton of fun. You could tell that Indianapolis is really a great walking city, even digitally. I hope I survive the onslaught of 97.1 callers irate that I didn’t throw for enough touchdowns long enough to probably not play there one day.”

Another player for the program was quoted as saying, “You could taste the St. Elmo’s cocktail sauce through the screen.”

In a time where other coaches are either delivering concrete results or building the foundation for future success, it’s inspiring to see Harbaugh continue to deliver outrageous offseason experiences for his players, even if they continue to fall short of actually going to Indianapolis.

Good on him, this blogger says.
