Michigan State basketball adds 4-star SF Jeremy Sochan to list of 2021 targets
In the same week Michigan State basketball added James Graham to the list of targets for 2021, four-star Jeremy Sochan also received an offer.
Just days after offering unranked wing prospect James Graham, Tom Izzo extended another scholarship offer for the 2021 class to four-star small forward Jeremy Sochan.
Sochan is the latest to join the Spartans’ big board of prospects in the 2021 class and he’s the second wing in a week to get an offer. This could mean something, it could mean nothing, but Michigan State is looking to load up on guard and wing depth for 2021.
It’s surprising that Michigan State didn’t offer Sochan earlier as he went to the same school as Jaren Jackson Jr. (La Lumiere) and is one of the best uncommitted prospects in the nation. He stands 6-foot-7 and comes in at 205 pounds, making for a lanky prospect in need of filling out, but his game is intriguing.
Sochan is a long athlete with the ability to put the ball of the floor, block shots, step back to the perimeter to make shots and he’s an excellent finisher. He can do a little of everything.
The La Porte, Ind., prospect also holds offers from Florida State, Baylor, DePaul, Vanderbilt and Xavier.
Michigan State basketball looking for wing depth
Depth on the wing seems to be a priority for Izzo and Co. heading into next season as there’s a possibility Aaron Henry could return for 2020-21 and then leave early again after a junior campaign, Josh Langford will surely be gone and there’s always the possibility of a transfer out of the program.
So this is why Izzo offered rising prospect James Graham earlier in the week and then the La Lumiere four-star small forward.
Sochan could rise up the recruiting rankings even more before it’s all said and done, but right now he’s ranked the No. 66 player in the nation and 13th-best small forward, per the composite. Michigan State may very well make him the priority wing recruit for 2021.
