4. Aaron Burbridge

Aaron Burbridge is actually the player that inspired me to create this list. He is, in my opinion, one of the most overlooked Spartan players of all time.

When I watched him finish his Michigan State career in the Spartans’ College Football Playoff season, I was convinced this guy was going to be one of the best receivers in the NFL. He just had that spark about him.

But as the NFL draft approached, there wasn’t much talk around his name. He didn’t have a bad performance at the NFL combine, but he didn’t wow anybody. Experts believed that he couldn’t get separation, which wasn’t untrue. He wasn’t an explosive athlete, but he was able to go up and make catches that most receivers in the league today cannot.

As a result, he slid to the sixth round of the draft to a 49ers team that would go on to win just two games. After a 2016 season where he didn’t find any playing time, he would be placed on injured reserve in 2017 and eventually get cut with another injury in 2018. He isn’t currently on a roster, and at the age of 26 his career isn’t looking as promising as it once was.
