Michigan State football faces uphill battle for 4-star S Andrew Mukuba
Michigan State football is facing a major uphill battle for four-star safety Andrew Mukuba who recently included the Spartans in his top 12.
When Michigan State extended an offer to four-star Texas safety Andrew Mukuba on March 18, it became just the latest in a flux of programs to jump on this kid’s bandwagon.
In fact, he had been reeling in offers from just about everywhere such as Texas, Alabama, Notre Dame, Auburn, Tennessee, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Georgia, Clemson, Utah, UCLA, Baylor, Florida State and Mississippi State. And those are all just some of the offers since mid-February 2020.
On Tuesday, he released his top 12 schools list, trimming things down from his offer sheet which sat at 35 total, according to 247Sports.
Michigan State football squares up with blue bloods
To some surprise, Michigan State made the cut, continuing its national branding and recruiting in all areas of the country.

But alongside that Spartan logo in his edit were some of the biggest names in college football. Teams like Texas, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Clemson and Georgia all stood out. Those are some of the biggest powerhouses in the sport and a number of them are also true blue bloods in every sense of the term.
Michigan State faces an uphill battle, trying to steer the No. 1 safety in the state of Texas, ranked the No. 208 overall prospect in the class, away from the big boys.
And this kid is good. Like really, really good.
Mukuba looks like the toughest kid on the field — and that’s in the football-rich state of Texas. He’s constantly laying big hits on opponents but sometimes the 6-foot, 185-pounder goes for that highlight smack instead of wrapping up which could get him in trouble at the next level.
Mel Tucker is doing an incredible job with his recruiting reach and he’ll face a tough battle with this top 12, but don’t count him and this staff out just yet.
