Michigan State Basketball Starting Five: G/F

Aaron Henry is undoubtedly a guard, but he has the versatility to guard anyone from the one to three. He’s one of the best defenders on the team and he has the size to be a small forward in a pinch. Naturally, he plays on the wing as a shooting guard and could afford to improve his handles in order to improve at the two.

But if all goes as planned and Karim Mane commits, Rocket Watts will surely be the starting two-guard and that would make Henry the second wing and a small forward option on either end of the floor — that’s not a stretch.

A return would be beneficial for the junior from Indianapolis, but it may take NBA scouts telling him he needs to come back for that to truly sink in.

If I were a betting man, I’d say Henry comes back and works on his overall offensive game in order to improve his draft grade. There’s no doubt he has pro potential, but he needs to be more consistent on the offensive end for him to live up to that potential. Another year at MSU would be huge for him.

This is Michigan State’s best-case scenario starting wing next to Watts.
