BYU Cougars

BYU comes as a revenge game for Spartan fans and the same holds true for a small handful of players who redshirted in 2016 who are still on the roster.

In the disaster season of 2016, the Spartans were handed losses by nine teams. This isn’t a Nebraska-type loss in 2015 that could have potentially derailed a season, but rather one loss of many that contributed to the downfall of Michigan State football. That season, BYU beat the Spartans by a very convincing 17 points.

BYU finished the 2019 season at 7-6 with a win against Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl. It’s hard to get a real idea of how good the Cougars really are as a middle-tier Independent team. We see the most exaggerated example of this with Notre Dame who is sometimes viewed as better than they actually are or worse than they actually are because of the level of competition they find themselves facing.

If you ask me, this game should be a W. But as we’ve learned over the past couple of years, just because MSU should win a game does not mean MSU will win the game.
