Obviously there shouldn’t be anyone else in the No. 1 spot on this list. Rocky Lombardi is just one heck of a name and sounds like he’d play the star role in the next Hollywood football movie.

If you’re not familiar with his first or last name, you may have been living under a rock for decades. Vince Lombardi was one of the best coaches in NFL history and if his name sounds familiar, it’s because the Super Bowl trophy is named after him.

Rocky is a famous boxing movie series which started in the 1970s and featured Sylvester Stallone. He was one of the most beloved and iconic sports movie characters of all time and there’s a good chance Michigan State’s Rocky was named after Stallone’s character.

Put those two together and wow, you have just a fantastic name.

Lombardi will be the center of attention heading into the 2020 season as he’s in the middle of a quarterback battle with Theo Day and Payton Thorne as the most veteran player at the position.

Will Rocky be QB1 for the Spartans? If it was judged solely on greatness of names, he’d win the job by a landslide.
