With an almost entirely new-look Michigan State football team, how do the stars of the present compare to the stars of the past?

Ah, springtime. The best time of year. You finally get to go outside, spend time with your friends, bask in the sunlight. And when the time comes, you get a glimpse at your favorite football team during their annual spring game. Unfortunately, this year you can’t actually leave your house. Or spend time with your friends. Or watch a spring game.

But what you can do is read some player comparisons to get you excited for football season that may or may not happen.

Despite player comparisons being totally meaningless, it’s a fun thing to think about while passing time in the offseason. It helps create a stronger connection to a player that you don’t already know very well. And after the departure of a large bulk of Michigan State’s starters from the past few seasons, Spartan fans don’t know their team as well as they’re accustomed to.

Before you take these comparisons too seriously, it should be known that I’ll be comparing players to well known Spartans who made a strong impact on the program. Nobody is going to get a MacGarrett Kings or Tommy Vento comparison.

That being said, here are my 2020 roster comparisons.
