Michigan State Football: Ranking songs on Mel Tucker’s game day playlists
Overused
- Started From the Bottom, Drake
- This song is about as inoffensive as rap gets, even the explicit version
- Fight Night, Migos
- Every ninth grader in 2011 thought they discovered fire when they put this song on the aux for the first time and the song hasn’t hit the same since
- Old Town Road, Lil Nas X
- In my 23 years of life, a song has never had a shorter lifespan than Old Town Road. You almost have to give it props.
- 24K Magic, Bruno Mars
- It’s a vibe, that vibe being “that song you put on a wedding playlist to get grandma shaking her moneymaker” — but a vibe nonetheless.
- Nonstop, Drake
- Drake’s 8 out of 10 is so much better, it’s a crime this is the song that became the pregame song of choice from this “mood playlist” or whatever he decided to call this album.
- Too Close, Alex Clare
- A hard hitter in 2012, not so much in 2020.
- Havanna, Camilla Cabello feat. Young Thug
- Jeffrey absolutely puts this song on his back, as is the usual case with his guest verses. I would suggest that Camilla should forward her royalty checks for this song to him out of appreciation, but I feel like she wouldn’t have much leftover in that scenario.
- Run This Town, JAY-Z feat. Kanye West and Rihanna
- Is it just me, or does this song take you back to ninth grade basement parties where everyone was afraid to drink their parents’ beer?
