Like Matt Allen, Naquan Jones is one of the last remaining members of the 2016 class still on the roster and he had plenty of hype coming in as a four-star recruit from Naperville, Ill.

Everyone wanted a piece of Jones during his recruitment and there was a point in time when it looked like he was going to Ole Miss after de-committing from Michigan State but Mark Dantonio continued to work with him to get him to East Lansing and he did. He redshirted as a true freshman, but has been a steady presence for three years.

While he’s put together decent stats over the past three seasons at defensive tackle, he’s never truly broken out.

In fact, he had 13 tackles and five tackles for loss as a freshman before posting career stats of 25 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and a sack as a sophomore. His junior year was relatively quiet as he had 15 total tackles and a sack to his name.

Entering his senior year and with the defensive line losing Raequan Williams and Mike Panasiuk, it’s Jones’ time to shine. He’s due for a breakout year and he has all the tools to achieve it.
