According to a report from Corey Evans, Michigan State basketball could be in the lead for five-star center Charles Bediako.

Pierre Brooks got Michigan State’s 2021 recruiting class kicked off last week when he committed to the green and white and that’s leaving everyone to wonder who might be next.

Tom Izzo has at least one or two spots to work with in next year’s class and with Brooks off the board, he can shift his focus to a top point guard as well as a big or just two guards.

So who will it be?

During his Q&A with followers on TwitterRivals‘ Corey Evans answered a question about Michigan State’s top remaining targets for the 2021 recruiting class after landing Brooks.

Here’s what he had to say:

"Either way, Michigan State is in a great position. They need to secure a lead guard this spring for the upcoming season, but once it does that, don’t be surprised if they get a leg up in the 2022 class thanks to its lack of needs to address with the 2021 class in mind."

Michigan State is in the mix for four-star point guard Jaden Akins and it’s also in the running for five-star shooting guard Max Christie as well as four-star guard Kobe Bufkin. But the biggest takeaway of his answer had to have been his mention of Charles Bediako, a five-star center from Ontario, Canada.

"Sure, Michigan State would love to land five-star big man Charles Bediako, a prospect that I actually think they are out in the lead for."

Bediako is a name that has been mentioned around Michigan State recruiting circles for a little bit, but he never really stuck in people’s minds because there was belief that he may reclassify to the 2020 class but it didn’t end up happening.

Now that he’s in the 2021 class, will he pick MSU and fill a need with Xavier Tillman gone?

It would be a monster pickup for the Spartans and adding a big to go along with a couple of guards would make for an ideal 2021 class. Brooks, Bediako and either Akins or Christie would have to be the ideal finish to the class.

Bediako is ranked the No. 21 overall player, fourth-best center and No. 1 prospect from Canada in the 2021 class, standing 6-foot-11 and weighing a light 215 pounds. He would make Izzo and MSU fans very happy.
