Michigan State football lands QB of the future in 3-star Hampton Fay
Hampton Fay becomes the quarterback of the future for Michigan State football, committing to Michigan State football on Saturday.
Don’t let the stars or the ranking fool you, Hampton Fay has all the tools. The three-star quarterback from Fort Worth, Texas,
Just hours after learning that Kaidon Salter would be deciding on May 10 between Tennessee, Baylor and Auburn, cutting Michigan State, everything made sense because of Fay’s imminent commitment. There’s a chance that the staff put some pressure on each of them to be the first to commit and Fay took Mel Tucker and Co. up on that.
Between Salter and Fay, the staff liked both of them and tried to sell each on becoming the face of Michigan State and Fay loved what he saw. He held just over a dozen offers and Michigan State was the best fit for his talents.
Fay has a rocket arm, ideal size at 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds and his national ranking took a hit because he played in just three games as a junior because of an injury.
And in those three games, his highlights and numbers were incredible.
Tucker landed his quarterback of the future just over two months after taking the Michigan State job and with no in-person recruiting because of COVID-19. He has landed seven commitments in the past few weeks and Fay may end up being the best NFL prospect of the bunch.
Besides having a rocket arm, Fay has wheels and can throw on the run or just tuck it and pick up tough yards on his own. His skillset intrigued the MSU staff immediately.
Fay is ranked the No. 36 pro-style quarterback in the 2021 class out of Texas and picked the Spartans over the likes of Illinois, Indiana, Pitt, Boise State, Boston College, Colorado and Houston, among others.
