Fresh off a virtual visit with the Michigan State coaching staff, Kobe Bufkin might be higher on the Spartans than he was previously.

Is Bufkin a higher priority than another guard from the state of Michigan or is Tom Izzo looking more for a shooting guard here? I’m going with Bufkin as the Spartans’ No. 3 remaining target because the top two have been looking like priorities for the coaching staff with more time and effort focused on them.

But hosting Bufkin for a virtual visit was eye-opening. This showed that the staff wasn’t giving up on him even if he might be looking elsewhere.

Bufkin is an athletic shooting guard with solid touch from outside and the athleticism and body control to drive to the basket, absorb contact and score in traffic. He’s a lefty but he has the ability to create with both hands. He’s stronger to his left and that’s something he needs to work on, but he’s a smart player who is a strong finisher.

The four-star guard from Grand Rapids is ranked the No. 92 player in the class and No. 1 prospect from Michigan, per the composite.
