Michigan State basketball lands sharpshooting 4-star SG Pierre Brooks
Michigan State basketball picked up its first commitment in the 2021 class in four-star shooting guard Pierre Brooks from Detroit.
It didn’t take long for Pierre Brooks to fall in love with Michigan State following his virtual visit with the coaching staff as he committed on Wednesday afternoon.

The four-star shooting guard from Detroit was a Spartan lean to begin with but he decided to speed up his recruiting process and make it official, becoming the first player to commit to Michigan State’s 2021 class.
Brooks picked Michigan State over the likes of Xavier and Michigan.
Some might look at his ranking after watching his highlight reel and wonder how he’s the No. 96 prospect in the nation, and that’s a fair question. How can this kid be just inside the top 100 with a game like his that translates perfectly to the collegiate level? He’s not an explosive athlete, but he has the look of a top-50 recruit.
Despite being criminally underrated, Brooks is one of the best shooters in the class. He has an interesting mid-level shooting motion, but he isn’t afraid to rise and fire from anywhere and can drive in and create for himself. He reminds me a lot of Denzel Valentine.
If he’s anything like Denzel, Michigan State will be in good shape. He’s coming in as a better shooter and athlete than Denzel was as a high school prospect, so there’s a major positive.
Michigan State’s class may stand at just one right now, but the Spartans have a couple of spots left for guys like Jaden Akins, Max Christie or even Emoni Bates if he reclassifies.
