Michigan State football landed yet another commitment, this time from three-star cornerback Antoine Booth from DeMatha Catholic.

Mel Tucker did it again. For the sixth time over the past few weeks, the first-year head coach landed a commitment in the 2021 class.

Antoine Booth gave his verbal commitment to the Spartans on Monday afternoon, growing the 2021 class to six total prospects.

Booth is listed as the No. 919 prospect and 78th-best cornerback in the 2021 class, according to the 247Sports composite. He’s from powerhouse DeMatha Catholic in Maryland and that connection goes all the way back to former Spartan linebacker Darien Harris who happens to be the current Director of Player Engagement for the new staff in East Lansing.

Not only did Booth grow the class to six for 2021, but his pledge vaulted Michigan State to No. 29 nationally in the recruiting rankings as they’ve been rapidly climbing over the past month.

While the average player rating for the Spartans on 247Sports is just over 84, there’s a wide belief that the class will see a bump across the board before it’s all said and done. Booth is the fourth-highest rated prospect in the Spartans’ class behind Tyson Watson, Davion Primm and Ethan Boyd.

Booth has decent size at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds and he’s aggressive for his size.

What also stood out to me on his highlight reel is his ability to read routes while also using his instincts to make plays on the ball before receivers can even turn their heads around. He’s aggressive without being too handsy and he fits that ‘No Fly Zone’ mold.

Booth is the first pure cornerback to commit to the 2021 class, though Gabe Nealy could also project to corner, and he might not be the last pledge this week.
