When you talk about the elite talent that the state of Michigan has, you almost have to start off with a conversation about Donovan Edwards.

The four-star running back from West Bloomfield is borderline five-star status and he looks every bit the part. He’s explosive, he runs downhill and he can even line up at receiver and make plays in the passing game. He’s also not afraid to hit, so if you’re looking for a running back who can pick up clutch blocks, Edwards is your guy.

If we were to be talking about Edwards back in December or even January, it would have been laughable. Mark Dantonio didn’t push very hard for him as it seemed like he was a lock to go to either Michigan or Ohio State. Mel Tucker has come in and put the full-court press on the No. 38 prospect in the nation and third-best running back. He’s Michigan’s No. 2 prospect.

In fact, Edwards likely has Michigan State near the top of his list, following Michigan and Georgia. The Spartans have made up some ground, but still have a lot of work to do.

Will they be able to get him on campus before he makes a decision? It’s likely because I don’t see his recruitment wrapping up any time soon.
