Mel Tucker was very frank with Andre Anthony leading up to the suspension of on-campus visits due to COVID-19. He told the three-star receiver from East Lansing that he wasn’t going to let him leave the city to play college ball.

That type of aggressiveness on the recruiting trail was lacking over the past few years and that’s a statement you’d probably never hear Mark Dantonio make.

Anthony, though, is one of the top targets on the board for the Spartans, and for good reason. He’s a solid 6-foot-2 but he’s still lanky at 165 pounds. He could afford to add about 20-25 pounds of muscle, but he has great hands and runs crisp routes. You won’t often see him out of place and his concentration when the ball is in the air is impressive.

While he’s not the fastest receiver in the class, he’s great with the ball in his hands and can make defenders miss.

Anthony is listed as the No. 451 overall prospect in the class as well as the No. 72 receiver and 12th-best Michigan recruit, per 247Sports. The Spartans will be battling the Wolverines for his services.
