Michigan State Football: Way-too-early 2020 game-by-game predictions
Coming back home after a disappointing road loss against a beatable BYU team will light a fire under this team. No longer will the Spartans drop to non-Power Five teams for the rest of the season. OK, so there’s just one more non-Power Five game on the schedule, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’ll take care of Toledo in East Lansing.
The Rockets are one of the better teams from the MAC, but the Spartans haven’t lost to a team from that conference since the 2009 heartbreaker against Central Michigan. Don’t expect another MAC over Big Ten upset here.
Final Score: Toledo 20, Michigan State 34 (2-1)
Miami rounds out the month of September for Michigan State as the Hurricanes travel to East Lansing to face the Spartans for just the fifth time ever.
The first four meetings between these two programs ended in Miami victories with the last one coming back in 1989 and the Spartans will look to change that here. It’s an extremely winnable game for the green and white, but whoever starts under center will struggle against that talented Miami defense.
A late comeback effort will fall just short as the Hurricanes leave East Lansing with a close victory.
Final Score: Miami 28, Michigan State 24 (2-2)
