10. Rocket Watts’ banked 3-pointers vs. Ohio State

What a freshman season it was for Rocket Watts. The freshman from Detroit had high expectations, but started slow and it was due to a nagging injury. He wasn’t able to drive off one leg and wasn’t as explosive as he should have been.

Tom Izzo gave him some time off to rehab the leg and he came back at the end of December better than ever. He was a menace to opponents and his crossover was deadly.

Watts also learned how to hit consistent threes and was one of the more clutch shooters on the team — just ask the Maryland fan that screamed in his ear. When Michigan State needed some offense in the season finale against Ohio State, Watts was there and the bank was open.

This was only one of his banked 3-pointers as he had two and the crowd went bananas. He obviously didn’t mean to bank them in, but when you’re on, you’re on.

Watts went on to be the best first-year player for the Spartans and you can bet there will be more memorable moments to come in the next year from him.
