For some reason, recruiting sites have listed Darius Snow as an outside linebacker, but that’s not accurate. Some might look at his listed position on 247Sports and just assume that he’d be buried on the depth chart but he actually has the best chance of any incoming freshman, in my opinion, to see the field immediately.

Darius, the son of Michigan State basketball great Eric Snow, is the Spartans’ highest-ranked 2020 class signee and he was a four-star for most of his recruitment before getting slid down to a three-star — you can bet he’s even more hungry because of that disrespect.

Snow is listed as the No. 435 overall player and he has tremendous size at 6-foot-0 and 215 pounds. He can play safety alongside Xavier Henderson, but if he doesn’t start, he should surely see his name on the two-deep.

Michael Dowell is likely to get the nod as the starter opposite Henderson, but the depth isn’t all that impressive, especially with David Dowell graduating.

If Mel Tucker is serious about everyone getting a chance to show that they deserve a starting job, Snow will get his opportunity, especially as an early enrollee.
