Michigan State Basketball: 3 takeaways from senior day win over Ohio State
1. Cassius Winston had the perfect senior day send-off
Before the game, I made a bold prediction that Cassius Winston would have a huge game, arguably his best since the Michigan blowout at home in January, and he lived up to it.
Cassius not only looked like the All-American we all predicted him to be at the beginning of the season and more of who we’ve seen over the past month, or so, but he put the game out of reach for the Spartans, leading the Spartans to their third straight Big Ten title.
Winston scored 27 points and had six assists, finishing 10-for-14 from the floor. He stayed red-hot from the 3-point line, making 4-of-7 shots and he’s now 17 for his last 24 from 3-point range.
It was good to see Cassius getting his time in the spotlight with a huge game and he got the proper send-off, kissing the Spartan head, hugging a tearful Tom Izzo and snagging his third straight Big Ten title.
If you were to draw up the perfect senior day performance and send-off, this had to be it. It was nice to see Cassius go out on top and soon he’ll have his number hanging in the rafters.
