Michigan State basketball’s senior day was an important one with a Big Ten title on the line and No. 18 Ohio State coming to town.

If you were holding your breath through about 30 minutes of the game on Sunday afternoon, you weren’t alone. For a while, fans were wondering if Cassius Winston, Kyle Ahrens and Conner George would get their proper send-off with a win, but the Spartans got hot and built a 17-point lead and the doubt was gone.

The Spartans won 80-69 after mounting a 80-60 lead and Tom Izzo got to sub his seniors out, letting them follow the tradition of kissing the Spartan logo at midcourt.

Michigan State won a share of the Big Ten title with the victory, their third straight, and improved to 22-9 on the season with a shot at a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament if it wins out.

What’d we learn from the Spartans’ impressive performance?

3. Aaron Henry’s aggression was huge

What else can we say about Aaron Henry at this point? He went from being a liability on offense to a kid who isn’t afraid to hunt for his own shots and drive to the hoop.

Since a disappointing performance and home loss to Penn State back on Feb. 4, Henry hasn’t finished with less than nine points in any game. He added to that impressive streak with 12 points against the Buckeyes, attacking the basket and even though he didn’t make many jumpers, he drove and made shots close to the hoop.

Henry has been on absolute fire and he’s been playing with much more aggression lately which is something the team needed.

If the Spartans plan on making a run in March, Henry needs to be aggressive like he was against Ohio State.
