2. Rocket Watts stays hot

Is there a hotter player on Michigan State lately than Rocket Watts? Sure, he had just 13 points combined in the previous two games heading into Tuesday night’s battle at Illinois, but the freshman guard went off against the Illini for a career-high 21 points.

Before the Michigan and Penn State losses, Watts went off for 16 points in a tough defeat at Wisconsin which starting the losing skid. He’s averaging 12.5 points per game over the past four games and he’s posted two career-highs in that time frame.

For the third time in five games, Watts will score at least 15 points as he’ll hit 17 against the Terrapins on Saturday night with College GameDay in town.

Rocket has been shooting the ball lights out as well, making 21-of-42 shots and 7-for-19 from 3-point range. That will continue against the Terrapins as he’ll make 6-of-10 shots and a couple of 3-pointers.
