Michigan State basketball has a major road game at Minnesota on Sunday afternoon and it has major bearing on the Big Ten title race.

Following a road loss at Indiana, the Spartans are in need of a big win against Minnesota on Sunday afternoon to keep pace with Illinois in the Big Ten title race.

The Gophers are tough to beat at home — just like any other Big Ten team this year — and Michigan State will need to bring its ‘A’ game. If Cassius Winston struggles for the third straight game, we might be talking about three losses in four outings.

What can we expect from Sunday’s battle?

3. Gabe Brown stays red-hot

For the past two games, Gabe Brown has been putting on a show for the Spartans. He has made nine of his last 11 shots and is 4-for-5 from distance. That hot streak will roll over into Sunday’s battle at Minnesota as it’s clear he doesn’t get all that rattled on the road.

In fact, he excelled at Indiana with 10 points on 2-of-3 shooting from deep and he’s shooting 43 percent from the floor and 37 percent from deep while averaging 7.6 points and 4.4 rebounds on the road this season. He’ll surpass all of those numbers on Sunday afternoon with 15 points and six rebounds to go along with a couple of steals and a block.

Brown will drill a few 3-pointers to give Michigan State a strong lead in the second half on the road and his shot is just getting better and better.

Just like Gus Johnson says, “He’s pure from deep.”

Gabe is just getting started.
