Michigan State Football: 5 early signees who will have immediate impacts in 2020
Michigan State football has locked up 19 members of its 2020 recruiting class officially, but who will have the biggest impacts right away?
Another typical Mark Dantonio class has signed — at least most of them — on Wednesday in the early period. The only Spartan recruit not to sign his NLI with Michigan State was Jordon Simmons who is taking an official in January and will be signing in February.
With this new crop of signees, Michigan State has some guys who could see the field early on and a number of recruits who could see have major impacts.
Which early signees will see the field first for the Spartans?
Losing Matt Seybert will be a big blow to the tight end position since he’s been one of the pleasant surprises of the team this year. The transfer from Buffalo grew into a lead role at the position and helped ease the pain of losing Matt Dotson for the season.
Coming back will be Dotson for his senior year and he’ll be joined by sophomore Trenton Gillison who has all the talent in the world. Those two make up a solid duo, but there’s going to be a need for depth and that’s where Guajardo comes into play.
The Dearborn-native might not see the field extensively, but he should be able to make an impact early on with his college-ready 6-foot-3, 230-pound frame.
Ranked the No. 570 player in the class and the 24th-best tight end, per 247Sports, Guajardo could be a surprise contributor for the Spartans right away.
