Three-star wide receiver Terry Lockett committed to Michigan State football on Sunday evening after visiting East Lansing over the weekend.

A big weekend for recruiting has come and passed and Michigan State was rewarded with the commitment of three-star wide out Terry Lockett.

This pledge is big for the Spartans but it could also mean the green and white are out of the running for former commit Alante Brown who went the prep school route this past season. That may not be the worst news in the world as Rivals is high on Lockett, rating him as a four-star while 247Sports lists him as a three-star and the No. 622 player in the country.

Lockett could be just what Michigan State’s offense needs moving forward: speed and playmaking abilities.

Losing Darrell Stewart Jr. will be a big hit to the offense, but Jayden Reed, Tre Mosley, Cody White, CJ Hayes and Julian Barnett make up an impressive wide receiver corps next season and if you add in a guy like Lockett, you’ll see this group become even more versatile.

The Spartans need speed on offense and a guy who isn’t afraid to improvise when a play breaks down, and that’s exactly what Lockett can do.

Michigan State may not know who its quarterback is next season, but with yet another weapon added to the offensive side of the ball, things get easier for the eventual first-year starter under center.

Lockett had offers from Cincinnati, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska, among others, but decided to jump at the Spartans’ offer following a visit this past weekend. This was a big win for the Spartans, especially since Lockett decided to place his trust in the staff over the surging home-state Golden Gophers.
