2. Depth

Is there a deeper team in college basketball this season than Michigan State? It’d be tough time find a deeper squad, especially since the Spartans could run 11-12 guys out on any given night, and that’s without Josh Langford, a regular starter who is out until at least January.

Let’s begin with the starting five. Michigan State has All-American Cassius Winston, fellow Naismith Award candidate Xavier Tillman who might be the best big in the Big Ten, super-athlete Aaron Henry who will be All-Big Ten, Thomas Kithier who is going to be a Matt Costello energy type and Rocket Watts who was a four-star recruit and will be a solid scorer.

After that, Michigan State has Gabe Brown who might be the most improved player on the team this season, Malik Hall who I think will eventually start this year, Foster Loyer who is gaining confidence, Marcus Bingham Jr. who has an incredibly high ceiling, Kyle Ahrens who is an athletic veteran who just needs to stay healthy and Julius Marble who might just carve out a nice role in the post.

Then don’t forget that Langford could come back mid-season and imagine if Joey Hauser is deemed immediately eligible by the NCAA. That would give MSU 13 guys who could play valuable minutes.

Depth will not be an issue with this team and it’ll wear opponents down.
