Michigan State football finally picked up a commitment from a quarterback in the 2020 class in former Virginia Tech commit Noah Kim.

It took a little longer than expected, but Michigan State finally found its quarterback in the 2020 class in the form of former Virginia Tech commit Noah Kim.

The three-star from Chantilly, Va., recently de-committed from Virginia Tech and then took a visit to Michigan State before committing on Wednesday night. He becomes the Spartans’ first quarterback pledge in the class but don’t be surprised if the staff looks for another with Brian Lewerke graduating.

For next season, Michigan State has Rocky Lombardi, Theo Day and Payton Thorne, but adding another 2020 class gunslinger alongside Kim can only help.

Many were hoping it would be four-star dual-threat CJ Stroud, but that ship has presumably sailed as he started gaining interest from just about every major program after his breakout at camps this past summer.

Kim, however, is listed as a pro-style quarterback, and the No. 52 such passer nationally, but has dual-threat capabilities of his own. Watching his highlights, he doesn’t have the strongest arm, but what he lacks in a cannon, he makes up for with his craftiness and ability to extend plays. He looks a little like Lewerke out there with his ability to scramble and throw on the run and he prides himself in accuracy, of which he has plenty.

The offer sheet for the three-star quarterback from Virginia doesn’t jump out at you, but he can be one of those diamonds in the rough the staff seems to find. Either way, the Spartans have some young quarterbacks to work with over the next few years, so Kim won’t be thrown into the fire right away.
