Michigan State football was expected to be the new home of Alante Brown in 2019, but his path took him elsewhere. He is now back in the picture.

Excitement levels were high when Alante Brown committed to Michigan State back in 2018 to be part of the 2019 class.

Then his path took him elsewhere as he reopened his recruitment and then ultimately decided to spend a year at prep school before college ball. He’s still receiving interest from Power Five programs, including a familiar face in Michigan State.

A long, winding road could lead him back to East Lansing and he would actually be part of the Spartans’ 2020 class if he did decide to commit to the green and white.

We had a chance to catch up with Brown and he admitted that his interest level in the Spartans is “high” and that Mark Dantonio is coming out to see him in a couple of weeks. He’s also planning a visit to East Lansing, but is unsure of the date right now.

Brown just received an offer from Indiana, so the Spartans could get a push from the Hoosiers, but he has to like what he sees from a relatively revamped offense (at least one that moves the ball and utilizes weapons in the passing game).

What could Brown bring to the Spartan offense in 2020? Recruiting expert Corey Robinson from SpartanMag loves what he sees from the former four-star recruit.

“Alante Brown is an electric athlete that has the chance to take it to the house at any point,” Robinson said. “Spending the year at prep school is allowing him to play wide receiver, the position he projects to in college.”

Add Brown to an offense with weapons such as Cody White, Julian Barnett, Matt Dotson, Jalen Nailor, Jayden Reed, Tre’Von Morgan and Tre Mosley in the pass game and Elijah Collins and Anthony Williams Jr. in the backfield and you have a unit that could be as electric as any that Dantonio has ever had at his disposal.

Michigan State could be in a winnable position to bring Brown back to East Lansing after coming close the first time around.
